Multi-Agent Programming Contest

The Multi- Agent Programming Contest is taking place annually, international programming competition, which aims to promote research into the areas of multi-agent systems, multi - agent systems, software agents and programming.

History

The competition was launched " in Multi- Agent Systems Computational Logic", and implemented in 2005 by Jürgen Dix (TU Clausthal ), Mehdi Dastani ( Utrecht University ) and Peter Novák (TU Prague ) in the context of the international workshop. The original focus of the competition was on the logic programming of multi-agent systems. The goals that were set up in 2005,

In the development of multi-agent systems have proven to be viable basis for competition and are still valid today. 2007, the focus was expanded to agent-oriented programming languages , platforms and tools. 2010, the goals have been extended by a further point:

The intention of the organizers is not on the solution of the problem in itself, but to the fact that a system of autonomous programs coordinated so that they get the job done together, and how the participants of the competition work out a solution.

Scenarios

Food collectors

In a two-dimensional box world ( map ) several agents need to find food and bring it to a depot. The agents always see only a part of the map and move from box to box. Initially there is no food on the menu. This appears only gradually, so that the agents need to constantly scan the card. This scenario came in 2005 to use.

Prospector

In a box world ( map ), there is gold, which must be found by the agents of their own team and transported to the depot. The difficulty with this scenario are trees that stand in the way and form a more or less complicated maze. In addition, is also looking at this card a second team for gold. This scenario came in the competitions of 2006 and 2007 are used. In 2007, the scenario will be extended for higher complexity: more agents on the map, carry more gold, competitors wegschupsen.

Cowboys

In a box world there are trees, cattle gate and cows, the two groups of agents ( Cowboys ) are to be driven into the their own gates. The goal is to drive as many cows as possible in their own gates. The cows show in their behavior swarm intelligence. In addition, they are afraid of the cowboys and tear from constantly. This scenario came in the competitions in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to use. 2009, the scenario is supplemented by fences, which can be opened by the cowboy agents.

Agents on Mars

2011 begins with the scenario agent on Mars. The goal is a team of cooperating agents to be programmed with different roles in order to conquer the planet Mars. The challenge of this scenario is the increased complexity that results from the fact that it is considered to occupy five different roles useful with different features and capabilities, so that the goal is achieved.
