The Mundang is an Adamawa language that is spoken in Cameroon and Chad by the people of Mundang.

Dissemination
The language is widespread in the Far North Mayo Kebbi Ouest Prefecture of Chad and Cameroon in the province. The presence of certain ethnic Mundang or closely related ethnic groups is also signaled still in Sudan and Kenya. In the Central African Republic, Peña corresponds exactly to the Mundang.
Dialects
The Mundang language has three dialects: The Kaele - Mundang and closely related dialects differ in the emphasis and specific words from those of Lere - Mundang, as well as the Mundang in Torrock in the region Pala in Chad from which Léré and Kaele differs.

The Mundang language is written using the Latin alphabet.
History
The Mundang has a practical writing system for literacy since 1921. The New Testament of the Bible has been translated in 1952 into the Mundang. The entire Bible was translated in 1983 into the Mundang language.
Grammar
The Mundang language has like almost all Vernakulärsprachen a rich grammar. The Eglise au Tchad Fraternelle Luthérienne et au Cameroun has established since 1920 focusing on the literacy of Mundang - people in their own native language. A grammar book on the Mundang language has been published since 1965.

Sociolinguistic situation
The Mundang, as well as all other national languages of Chad, benefiting from no official status.
The article 9 of the Chadian constitution states: The official languages are French and Arabic. The law fixes the conditions for the promotion and development of national languages.
The Mundang of Cameroon and Chad have an association for the promotion of Mundang language founded, which has its headquarters in Léré in Chad. A dictionary in the Mundang language is in preparation and more than 100 books with evangelical character which have been translated into any other languages since 1955, have been published on Mundang. Several Mundang authors also works outside the church turn to how narratives and stories.
