Municipal Borough of Brentford and Chiswick

The Municipal Borough of Brentford and Chiswick was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London. It existed from 1927 to 1965 and was at the center of the former county of Middlesex.

History

New Brentford, Old Brentford and Chiswick were originally Civil parishes in the Harde ( hundred ) Ossulstone. 1874, a local health council was (local board of health ) created with competencies in infrastructure for the whole of Brentford. For this the following year an urban health district ( urban sanitary district ) emerged with enhanced powers. 1883 Chiswick was also awarded this status. Both health districts reconstituted in 1894 as the Urban District. This 1927 again joined forces and formed a joint Municipal Borough.

With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965 arose from the merger of the Municipal Boroughs Brentford and Chiswick and Heston and Isleworth and Feltham Urban District of the London Borough of Hounslow.
