Municipal Borough of Ealing

The Municipal Borough of Ealing was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London. It existed from 1863 to 1965 under various names and was at the center of the former county of Middlesex.

History

Ealing was originally a civil parish in the Harde ( hundred ) Ossulstone. 1863, a local health council (local board of health ) was created with competencies in infrastructure, the first of the southern part Ealings looked after, in 1873 the entire community. The result was a 1875 urban health district ( urban sanitary district ) with extended powers. 1894 reconstituted the health district as Urban District. This, in turn, received in 1901 as the first area in Middlesex the status of a municipal borough. 1926 merged the formerly independent urban districts Greenford and Hanwell with Ealing, thus increasing the area more than tripled.

With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965 arose from the merger of the Municipal Boroughs Acton, Ealing and Southall London Borough of Ealing.

By the year 1926, the area was 2947 acres ( 11.93 km ² ), then 8783 acres ( 35.54 km ²). The census revealed the following population figures:
