Municipality of Jezersko

Jezersko ( officially: Občina Jezersko; German: Municipality Zealand ) is a Slovenian community in the Valley of Kanker just south of the Austrian-Slovenian border crossing Seebergsattel. It is divided into Zgornje Jezersko (upper Zealand ) and Spodnje Jezersko (sub Zealand ), the former as the origin of the settlement applies.

Geography

This mountain resort is located in northern Slovenia to 900 m. ü. M. in a rural alpine dominated region, which is characterized by meadows and pastures, as well as an almost " audible ", only interrupted by the occasional ringing of cowbells silence. The village is surrounded by the Kamnik Alps (Slovene: Alpe Kamniske ) and a part of the Karawanken (Slovenian: Karavanke ) and offers a good view of the mountains.

History

The Slovene-speaking community was part of the Duchy of Carinthia, and fell by the Treaty of St. Germain along with the Mießtal and Unterdrauburg 1919 to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

She was the only area of the Duchy of Carinthia, which was given up voluntarily by resolution of Parliament in the autumn of 1918 in the form of a territorial exchange with Slovenia, which his German -speaking community Weissenfels ceded ( Fusine in Valromana ) of Carinthia in return, which, however, shortly afterwards, together with the Kanaltal had to be ceded to Italy.
