Municipio XIII

The XIII. Municipality Ostia is one of the 19 municipalities of the city of Rome. It is located southeast of the mouth of the Tiber along the Tyrrhenian Sea. The name derives from Latin Ostia os " the mouth " or ostium of " input", which the mouth of the Tiber is meant from.

Ostia has 200 114 inhabitants (2006) to 150.64 km ². It is divided into the following districts.

In the area of ​​Ostia lies the archaeological site of Ostia Antica. The Lido di Ostia is the most visited beach of the Romans. With the Roma- Lido, the district is connected to the city center.

From 1928 until the Second World War, was located at the mouth of the Tiber a water aerodrome ( ⊙ 41.74166666666712.244444444444 ), who served together with the water aerodromes on Lake Bracciano, near Ponte Fratta and Ripetta well with the airfields Urbe ( Littorio ), Cento Celle and Guidonia as a commercial airport in Rome.
