Munster (Moselle)
Munster ( German Münster, Lorraine Minschder ) is a commune of 221 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins and Canton Albestroff.
Geography
Munster is located five kilometers south-east of Albestroff at an altitude 217-248 meters above sea level. The municipal area covers 6.6 km ². The place is surrounded by agricultural land and little forest. South of the village is the Etang Neuf one of the many dammed ponds around. The municipality is crossed by the river and its tributary Rode Rose. Munster is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.
History
Munster was plundered in the Wars of Religion and the Thirty Years War and many buildings were damaged or destroyed.
The village belonged from 1973 to 1983 to Albestroff.

Culture and sights
Landmark in the small community is the eponymous " Munster " - the collegiate church of Saint -Nicolas in the 13th century. The church was modernized in the 15th and 18th centuries.
