Muottas Muragl

The Muottas Muragl (Romansh Muotta, Hill ', Muottas as a plural, Muragl as field name ) is an excursion mountain with an altitude of 2,453 m above sea level. M. in the Upper Engadine. It is located in the municipality of Samedan and offers an extensive view of the Upper Engadine with the Engadine lakes ( Lake Sils, Silvaplana and St. Moritz ). A footpath leads with 400 m height difference to Segantinihütte on the Sheep Mountain, where in 1899 the painter Giovanni Segantini died. An easy -to-walk Direction path leads to Alp Languard.

The Muottas Muragl is on foot or by funicular from Punt Muragl distance ( between Samedan and Pontresina ) from. The funicular Muottas Muragl -Bahn (MMB ) has a track length of 2199 m and 709 m height overcomes distance. It is the oldest mountain railway in the Engadine and 2007 celebrated its 100th anniversary.
