Murfreesboro is a city in Pike County in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Covering an area of ​​about 4.9 square kilometers, about 1,800 people live.

History

The first confirmed inhabitants of the present city limits of Murfreesboro were the Indians of the tribes of Quapaw and Caddo. As the first white explorers a group of Hernando de Soto reached the area in the mid-16th century. The meeting between the parties ended violently.

After 1833, the Pike County was established, the site of the name Zebulon was given. It was to be characterized by wilderness. In the following years the name was changed only to Murfreesborough and finally to the present name. The name was introduced by settlers who named the area after her hometown in Tennessee. 1906 John Wesley Huddleston found the first diamonds in this area. In 1924, in what is now State Park Uncle Sam, the largest diamond ever found in the United States with 40.23 carats recovered.
