Muro Leccese

Muro Leccese is a Southeast Italian community ( comune ) with 5055 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Lecce in Puglia. The municipality is situated approximately 32.5 kilometers south-southeast of Lecce in southern Salento. The municipality operates since 1999 the title of Città (City).

History

The Norman William Bosco was in 1156 the first Lord of the few years after its establishment, settlement, composed of residents previously by Saracens destroyed villages.

Attractions

At the village are the five menhirs of Muro Leccese.

Traffic

Through the community, the Strada Statale 275 di Santa Maria di Leuca Lecce leads from the southern end of Salento. In Muro Leccese, the railway station is on the route from Maglie after Gagliano del Capo.
