Murray County (Minnesota)

The Murray County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 8725 inhabitants and a population density of 4.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Slayton.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern Minnesota, about 35 miles from South Dakota to the south and about 40 miles from Iowa is located in the west. It has an area of 1864 square kilometers, of which 39 square kilometers are water surface. At the Murray County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Murray County was formed on 23 May 1857 parts of Brown County. It was named after William Pitt Murray (1825-1910), Member of Minnesota - Territory (1852-1855 and 1857).
