Murrmirnichtviel Lodge

Castle Murrmirnichtviel, rarely also Murr- me - not - much, very occasionally marble - not - much, is the ruin of a hunting lodge with watchtower, which belonged to the Counts of Leiningen. It is located in the Palatinate Forest southwest of the town of Bad Durkheim ( Rhineland -Palatinate).

History

Near the ruins were discovered Roman tombs that are attributed to a road station of the Romans at this point. In 1534, a watchtower was first mentioned and still referred to " the hermitage " as so close, primitive dwelling. He was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years' War.

Presumably, by Johann Friedrich von Leiningen (1661-1722) was the tower - as well as the only 600 meters away leiningische hunting lodge Kehrdichannichts - to protect the border of the hunting ground between Leiningen and the Palatinate first again and then also converted into a baroque hunting lodge. It was a bit raised on the southwest ridge of the tricorn; so you could watch the Palatine neighbors from the tower.

However, a recent destruction or decay must soon take place because in 1781 the cabin and the watchtower were referred to in a Salbuch as a ruin Friedrichsburg. No later than 1793, when the French Revolution had spread to the left bank of the German areas, the plant was finally burned down. The new name first appears on a map of 1797.

1926, the walls were five feet high. In 1963, the ruins were transferred from the custody of the former Royal Bavarian forest area in the state of Rhineland -Palatinate. 1988/89 were the remains of walls, which consist only of parts of the exterior wall with window and approaches the tower stump, exposed and secured.

Name

The name Murrmirnichtviel is based on the the hunting lodge Kehrdichannichts and may have been formed from the vernacular. With regard to the disputes between Leiningen and the Palatinate to the borders of the hunting grounds " Murr me much! " Was intended as a stark warning and should mean something like " Füg you without grumbling ( in the ban from my hunting ground )! "
