Musalia Mudavadi

Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi ( born September 21, 1960 at Vihiga District in Western Province of Kenya ) is a former Vice President of Kenya.

He comes from the ethnicity of Luhyas, which is famous for it in Kenya to be at odds in many sub- tribes. This fragmentation has always meant that could procure the voting power of Luhyas, in fact the second largest ethnic group in the country, one of their presidential or even in the running for the highest office of president.

Comparable to other leading Kenyan politicians is also Mudavadi the son of a politician of the so -called " old guard ". His father Moses Mudavadi Substone Budamba was a powerful Secretary General of the Kenya African National Union (KANU ) and held the post of minister "Local government" inside.

Mudavadi first worked for a brokerage house ( Tysons Limited). On 17 March 1989 he won then unopposed ( who resigned under pressure ) in his constituency Sabatia the parliamentary seat. In July 1989, he was appointed by his mentor, President Daniel arap Moi for "Minister for Supplies and Marketing".

Mudavadi tried to put public less on the " ethnic card " to, making it less he manages to bring the voices of Luhyas collected at the national level behind. That's why he could never penetrate into the very first series of the leading politicians. The entry of Uhuru Kenyatta as a presidential candidate in 2002 had his thin chance once to become president, suddenly destroyed.

In the 2002 election he lost as Acting Vice President his parliamentary seat because he did not forgive the voters that he ( has helped the President Mwai Kibaki to win) the earlier of the coalition National Rainbow Coalition ( NARC ) abandoned KANU was joined again. Then he was offered the part of the CANOE to one of the nominierbaren parliamentary seats, but what he rejected. For the 2007 election Mudavadi now operates two fold campaign on the ODM ticket. Once around the lost parliamentary seat, on the other hand within the party for the presidential nomination.
