The Station Musashi - Koganei (Japanese武 蔵 小 金井 駅, Musashi - Koganei -eki ) is located in the city of Koganei in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan.

History

On April 4, 1924 for the first time holding a train at the site of today's railway station. These were, however, only a temporary set up breakpoint for passengers to Hanami.

Only in the following years was at this point an ordinary station of the Japanese National Railways, which was inaugurated on 15 January 1926. From 1 September 1959, the route is electrified and opened to traffic and it could also keep electric trains at the station. On April 1, 1987, the station went on the privatization of the state railway in the possession of JR Higashi- Nihon.

Due to the increase in traffic density over the years both on track and on the road was started from the JR Higashi- Nihon in 1999 to manufacture parts for the Chūō Main Line between Mitaka and Tachikawa intersection freedom. For this reason, the Chūō Main Line is elevated on a viaduct, as a result, the station will also be converted into a through station in high position. Construction on the station began on 28 September 2003. On 30 June 2007, the reconstruction of the tracks 1 and 2 was completed and was opened to traffic. Currently (2009) run the conversion work for the tracks 3 and 4 should be completed by 2010.

Design and tracks

The station is built in the most commonly encountered design as a through station. The original railway tracks ran at ground level, but are currently (2009) elevated by actions of the intersection of freedom on a viaduct so that a through station built in high position. The station has a total of four platform tracks which to pages as well as before the conversion to two one central platform divided up. After completion of the renovation is to share these with an unchanged track assignment based on two central platforms.

Lines

The station is serviced by the Express trains of the Chūō Line, which operate on the Chūō Main Line. The paint used in the table below corresponds to the award of JR Higashi- Nihon color code of the line. During the morning rush - hour periods, the local trains of Chūō - sobu line are partially extended to Musashi - Koganei. As one of the major stations of the city also run here about 30 buses of various operators.

Environment

The area around the station are among other things the Edo Tōkyō -air architecture museum (江戸東京たてもの園, Edo Tōkyō Tatemono En, literally " Edo Tōkyō building Garden "), which Gakugei University of Tokyo (东京 学 芸 大学, Tōkyō Daigaku Gakugei ) and the cemetery Tama (多 磨 霊 园, Tama canals ).

Use

In 2008, the station from an average of 55 413 passengers was used on the day, so that the rank 82 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR Higashi- Nihon in 2008.
