Musau

Musau is a municipality with 398 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Reutte, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Reutte.

Location

Musau lies on the western side of a basin-like extension of the Lech river north of Reutte. The settlement area covers several districts ( Brandt Instead Saba, Roßschläg, Leite, plate, paddock, Riedle, Höllmühle ).

History

First mentioned in 1218 as it was Muosowe and later in 1310 Mussowe what might althochdt from. muessa swampy country derives. Here were two outworks of the fortress of Ehrenberg. Historically it was part of the Court Vils, which was part of the Habsburg Empire, but in 1816 came to Tyrol.
