The Broad-leaved grape hyacinth ( Muscari latifolium ) is a plant of the genus Muscari ( Muscari ) of the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ).

Features

The Broad-leaved grape hyacinth is a perennial reaches Geophyt, the plant height of 15 to 40, rarely 50 centimeters. There are usually one, rarely two leaves present. These are 7-30 inches long and 1-3 inches wide, upright, frosted and wide linear to ovate-lanceolate - wrong. They are short pulled together the top and the top is often hood shaped. The stem is longer than the sheets. The inflorescence is a cluster of 2-6 centimeters long and 1.5 centimeters wide. For fruit time it is loosened. The fertile flowers are 5-6 mm long and 3 mm wide, oblong- pitcher -shaped and purple to black. The Perigonzipfel are about one millimeter long, pale purple and slightly bent back. The sterile flowers are 4-8 mm long and pale purple or blue.

The flowering period extends from April to May

Occurrence

This species occurs in the southern and western Turkey before in sparse pine forests at altitudes from 1100 to 1800 meters.

Occasionally, it is used as an ornamental plant in flower beds.
