Muscogee County, Georgia
The Muscogee County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Columbus.
Geography
The County is located in western Georgia, on the border with Alabama and has an area of 572 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Harris County, Talbot County and Chattahoochee County.
History
Muscogee County was formed as the 69th County of Georgia from the Creek Indian akquiriertem country on 9 June 1825. It was named for the Muscogee Indians, from which the Creek Indians and the Seminoles have emerged. Later, the Columbus - Muscogee County, the first city - Countyverwaltung in the U.S. was formed.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Muscogee County 186 291 people in 69 819 households, and 47,686 families. The population density was 333 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 50.42 percent White, 43.74 percent Black or African American, 0.38 percent Native American, 1.54 percent Asian, 0.14 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.90 percent from other races groups; 1.87 percent were descended from two or more races. 4.49 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 69 819 households out of which 34.6 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 44.7 percent were married couples living together, 19.6 percent were single mothers and 31.7 percent were non-families. 26.7 percent of all households and 9.4 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.08 persons.
26.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 11.9 percent between 18 and 24, 29.8 percent between 25 and 44, 19.7 percent between 45 and 64 and 11.7 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.6 males.
The median income for a household was 34,798 U.S. dollars, and the median income for a family $ 41,244. Males have a median income of $ 30,238, women $ 24,336. The per capita income was $ 18,262. 15.7 percent of the population and 12.8 percent of families are below the poverty line.
