Museu Calouste Gulbenkian

The Museu Calouste Gulbenkian ( Calouste Gulbenkian Museum German ) is a museum in Lisbon, Portugal. The building of the Gulbenkian Museum was built between 1964 until 1969. 1984 has been extended to the Centro de Arte Moderna as the Museum of Modern Art.

The museum's permanent collection includes - according to the rich artistic interest of the patron Calouste Gulbenkian - a wide range of art objects from all eras. It is divided into chronological and geographical. The exhibition begins with Egyptian, Greek and Roman exhibits and is then continued with Islamic, Armenian and Far Eastern art. Other areas to deal inter alia with the European book art as well as of European painting and sculpture from the 15th century. Private rooms are dedicated to the works of Francesco Guardi and René Lalique.

Among the best known exhibits of the museum include the works of Rembrandt ( "Portrait of an Old Man " ), Monet ( " Still Life with Melon " ) and Manet ( " The Bubble ").
