Museu Picasso

The Museu Picasso in Barcelona is an art museum that shows particularly early works by Pablo Picasso that have arisen 1895-1904. However, the collection also includes works from later creative periods, such as the series Las Meninas is from 1957, the variations of the eponymous painting by Velazquez.

The museum is housed in five contiguous Gothic houses (city palaces ) from the 13th to the 15th century in the Carrer Montcada in the La Ribera: Palau Aguilar, Palau Baró de Castellet the, the Palau Meca, Casa Mauri and the Palau Finestres. Basis of the collection of 1963 opened the museum is a foundation of Jaime Sabartés - a former secretary and friend of Picasso.
