Museum of the Moving Image (London)

The Museum of the Moving Image (English for " museum of the moving image ," Abbreviation: MOMI ) in London was a museum for the media and social history of film, television, video, animation and their technical precursors.

The MOMI was founded with predominantly private endowment and operated from 1988 to 1999 by the British Film Institute in a house built by the architectural firm Avery Associates building on the south bank of the Thames. It was considered innovative in concept and features and not only possessed advanced technical facilities for interactive study of the issued media, but also has its own group of actors who presented the visitors of the museum and its events whose objects.

Opened on 15 September 1988, the museum was closed again on 31 August 1999, at first with the explanation that it was a temporary closure and the museum should be reopened in other premises. In 2002, the BFI then announced the final closing, which was included in public with regret and criticism. The building of the MOMI was remodeled and forms since the reopening of 14 March 2007 the entrance complex for the BFI Southbank.
