Museum Pachten

The museum rents is Museum of Prehistory and Early History of the district of Saarlouis, and home museum of leases. It was founded in 1990 and is housed in a former farmhouse. Focus of the exhibition is the Roman period in Contiomagus.

The Roman origin Pachtens is known about since the 17th century. The relics come from the local cremation cemetery, one of the largest in the southwest of Germany. However, it will also be shown finds from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and the era of the Celts.

A geological collection contains fossils and minerals from the environment.

The recent past is documented with equipment from everyday life in the 19th to the 20th century in a farmhouse. This includes tools and a complete bedroom.
