Music Box Revue

Music Box Revue was the title of a series of revue - productions on Broadway, for which Irving Berlin composed the music. Between 1921 and 1925 four shows were brought out. The revues were named after the built especially for that purpose Music Box Theatre. The producer Sam H. Harris had intended to exclusively reserve the theater the musical creativity of Berlin.

The first Music Box Revue opened on September 22, 1921 Directed by Hassard Short, who was also responsible for the next two editions. The revue was successful, came to 440 performances and had with " Everybody Step" and " Say It With Music " two big hits.

Well-known entertainers appeared in the Music Box Revues, such as the vocal group The Brox Sisters, the comedians Bobby Clark and Paul McCullough, the actor William Gaxton, opera singer Grace Moore. 1924/25, was the star of the Ziegfeld Follies, Fanny Brice be required.

After the fourth, with 184 performances least successful edition (1924 /25), Berlin and Harris ended their musical theater project - their next joint work was 1925, the Marx Brothers musical The Cocoanuts, which started at the Lyric Theatre.
