Music conservatories of Naples

The Conservatory " San Pietro a Majella " (Italian: Conservatorio " San Pietro a Majella " di Napoli) is a conservatory in Naples.

The Conservatory is one of the most traditional musical training schools in a city that is world famous for its musicality. The history of the Conservatory is therefore closely linked to the history of music, for the city of Naples has played an important role over the centuries. Already in the 17th century brought Naples with the Neapolitan School own opera style show which was based on earlier traditions of Neapolitan conservatories of the early 16th century. In its present form, the institution was founded in 1808 as the Real Collegio di Musica and moved in 1826 on the orders of King Francesco I called Real Conservatorio di Musica di San Pietro a Majella its current headquarters in the former convent next to the eponymous church of San Pietro a Majella.

The Conservatory features a museum and a very rich library with a variety of historical documents.
