Muskegon County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Muskegon.

Geography

The County is located in the west of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, adjacent to Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes, and has an area of ​​3780 square kilometers, of which 2461 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Oceana County, Newaygo County, Kent County and Ottawa County.

History

Muskegon County was formed in 1859 from parts of Oceana County. It was named for the Muskegon River.
