Mustin

Mustin is a municipality in the northeast of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Sternberg Lake District with headquarters in the city Sternberg.

Geography

The community is surrounded by a hilly, lakeside scenery east of Sternberg. Larger lakes in the municipality are the Ruchower lake Scharbower lake, the two-part Mustiner lake Höltensee and Bolzer Sea to the south. Last is a nature reserve. In the west the municipality borders on the Rothener lake and on the northeast by the Lenzener lake. The latter belongs to a small part of the municipality and is situated in a nature reserve Upahler and Lenzener lake. Near the lake is the Rostock mountains with 77.8 m above sea level. HN and just southeast of it a nameless hill with about 95 m above sea level. HN as the highest point in the community.

The next largest cities are Sternberg (10 km) and Güstrow (20 km).

Local structure

The municipality consists of the villages of Lenzen, Bolz, Mustin and Ruchow.

History

Mustin was first mentioned in 1453 as Mostyn. The place, however, is much older, since the name is of Slavic origin. The name refers to the Slavic word MOSTI for power or MOSTU for bridge.

Ruchow was first mentioned as a village church in 1234.

Traffic

The municipality is bordered on the north by the highway 104 and on the south by the federal highway 192.
