Musumba

Musumba, also Musumba Kekese, is a city in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

General

Musumba is located in the province of Lualaba in the settlement area of the tribe of Lunda. The chief of the Lunda entitled Mwant Yaav has his traditional seat until the 19th century was the site of the capital of the Lunda empire.

Education and Culture

For the music of the Lunda, who also live in Zambia and Angola, Musumba is the center in which are produced the most CDs of their music.

The city is the seat of a website maintained by the Methodist Institute for teacher training.

Personalities

The January 27, 2005 died here Mwant Yaav Kawel II (actually Thomas Tshombe ) was the younger brother of the famous son of the city, Moise Tshombe, former President of Katanga and Prime Minister of the Central Government.
