Documents

Mutnedjmet is mapped to some grave representations of the Amarna period and probably held the office of a guardian of the daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti. It bears the title Sister of Queen Nefertiti. The pictures show her as a young girl with the typical side-lock of the children. She is depicted larger than the royal children.

Research Theses

Many researchers believe it is a younger sister of Nefertiti, without yet a definitive proof can be adduced to show. Since they no longer appears in the representations of the later years of the reign, it is frequently assumed that they rejected the politics and especially the religion of Akhenaten and was therefore sent back to Thebes. This assumption, however, is highly speculative and is based on the assumption that many senior investigator from that it is actually Nefertiti's sister and at the same time identical with the later second wife of Horemheb. This equality of the sister of Nefertiti the wife of Horemheb is however rejected by many new researchers. Please be aware that the name of Nefertiti - sister was possibly not read Mutnedjmet but Mutbelet.
