Muzafer Korkuti

Muzafer Korkuti (* 1936 in Fterra, Circle Saranda, Albania) is an archaeologist and prehistorians.

Korkuti is considered an expert on the prehistoric period in Albania. He was director of the Institute of Archaeology at the Center for Albanological studies in Tirana from 1998 until 2005. He is Vice President in 2012 of the Albanian Academy of Sciences. He is also a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute, headquartered in Berlin.

Career

Korkuti studied history at the University of Tirana from 1957 to 1962 and has specialized in China Archaeology. In 1966 he took part in the excavations of Maliq in Korce district. From 1991 to 1996, he served with Karl Petruso from the University of Texas, a joint project in Konispol.
