The Artania (former Artemis, Royal Princess ) is a cruise ship owned by the Monaco-based ship management company V.Ships Leisure. Since May 2011 the ship in the charter of the tour operator Phoenix Reisen is from Bonn in use. The Artania is one of the few cruise ships without inner cabins.

History

The ship was built 1983-1984 on the Wärtsilä shipyard in Helsinki and ran on 18 February 1984 as Royal Princess for Princess Cruises from the stack. After the handover on 30 October 1984, she was baptized on 15 November 1984 by Princess Diana in Southampton. In 2005, the British shipping company P & O Cruises, the ship and brought it to reconstruction and modernization work at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven as Artemis in driving. End of April 2011, the Artemis was sold to the new owner Artania GmbH, a subsidiary of V.Ships and in a four-week renovation period, which took place again at the Lloyd shipyard, modernized and overhauled. On 28 May 2011, the ship in the Hamburg Cruise Center was christened Artania and brought in the Charter for Phoenix Reisen in driving. Godmother was Maggy Pentecost Brohm, a long -time collaborator of the tour operator.

Machinery and drive

The diesel- mechanical machinery of Artania consists of four six-cylinder four -stroke diesel engines Pielstick PC4 -2 type, which were built by Wärtsilä under license. They work in pairs via gear and shafting to the two propeller. Each engine produces 5,800 kW at a speed of 400 rpm. In addition, the ship has two auxiliary diesel engines of the type Wärtsilä 6R22 with a total capacity of 5,960 kW, a pair of stabilizers and two bow thrusters.
