Pacific Adventurer is a Chinese container ship of Swire Shipping Ltd.. It is 185 m long.

Oil Spill

On 11 March 2009, the trip from Newcastle to Brisbane, ran the ship into the cyclone Hamish, a tropical cyclone of class 5 (> 205 km / h ) through the heavy seas, the ship lost 31 containers loaded with ammonium nitrate. When going overboard 2 fuel tanks of the ship were damaged, so that about 230 tonnes of fuel oil leaked.

There was an oil spill on the beach south of Cape Moreton. A 25 million were paid $ for compensation. The sunken containers have been located, but remain on the seabed. Shipping is stopped to avoid the affected area.
