The motor ship Zenith is a cruise ship of the Spanish cruise line Pullmantur Cruises. The ship was built by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and handed over in 1992 to the American shipping company Celebrity Cruises.

History

The ship was a sister ship of Celebrity Cruises Horizon ( later Iceland star and now Pacific Dream ) is given by Celebrity Cruises, then still a daughter of the Greek shipping company Chandris, at Meyer Werft in order. The slightly larger Zenith was designed by the yacht designer Jan Bannenberg and resembled the Horizon up to the front body part, an imperceptible extension provided space for an additional ten passenger cabins. It was delivered on 15 February 1992, and put into service under the flag of the Republic of Liberia. In March 1992, she sailed into the port of New York for the first time. The first cruise was conducted on April 4, 1992 from Florida.

The cruise ship was completely refurbished in 1999 and was from then located at the top five-star segment. It could accommodate 1375 passengers with a crew of around 640 people. It was used for cruises from Florida with ports of departure Miami or Tampa to the Caribbean and Bermuda.

The Zenith was registered on 18 December 2002 in the register of ships of the Bahamas. The new home port was Nassau. Between May and November 2006, she was used for cruising along the west coast of the United States. Homeport were present Vancouver or Seattle. Celebrity Cruises came to the increased demands on Alaska cruises with the installation.

The Zenith was founded in 2007 to the building of a ship exchange. The exchange was made possible because the shipping company Celebrity Cruises came to Royal Caribbean Cruises Pullmantur Cruises in 1997 and followed in 2006. The ship was handed over on 11 June 2007 by Celebrity Cruises to the Spanish market leader Pullmantur Cruises. The Zenith also changed flag and port to Valletta in Malta. In the year of acquisition by Pullmantur Cruises, the ship underwent a modernization. Initially it was used for cruises in the Mediterranean.

Between 27th April and 7 May 2009, the Zenith for class work at Blohm Voss in Hamburg was docked.
