My Generation (album)

Occupation

My generation is the title of the first album by British rock group The Who. The LP was released in December 1965. In the U.S., the album was released with a different cover and a slightly different title sequence under the title The Who Sings My Generation. The album was named after the published in November 1965 single My Generation, which had reached in the UK singles chart number 2.

The album was produced by Shel Talmy and released by the record label, Brunswick. The recording and pressing was done in mono. On the album Nicky Hopkins can be heard as a guest musician on the piano.

My Generation clearly shows the musical roots of the early Who. The album is heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and contains the one cover versions of popular R & B pieces, on the other influences in the compositions of the Who guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend can be seen.
