The Sam Simon is the newest ship of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. 2012, the former Japanese research vessel was incorporated into the fleet.

Particulars

Built in 1993 as a ship helped Seifu -maru (清风 丸, " fresh breeze " ) in the study of ocean currents for Japan's North Pacific whaling program and was one of the Maizuru Marine Observatory of the Japan Meteorological Agency. 2010, it was taken out of service and remained in the port of Shimonoseki until 2012 on a U.S. company was purchased by Sea Shepherd. The Japanese government was not aware of it, to whom it had sold the ship. It was first renamed New Atlantis and thoroughly renovated before it was announced on December 10, 2012 in Hobart, Tasmania, that it is at the ship around the Sam Simon. She was open to the public three days before they expired in the framework of Operation Zero Tolerance against Japanese whalers.

Was named the ship after the American television producer Sam Simon.
