A song goes round the world is a German feature film from the year 1933.
Action
The film takes place in Venice. Ricardo is an unknown tenor. Rigo works as a musical clown. Together, they share an apartment. The unemployed tenor Ricardo sees little chance for an engagement at the Opera and would like to work in radio. Again, his efforts seem to be unsuccessful. But Ricardo does not give up and just starts to sing. The radio staff are thrilled he is employed and his programs made him famous. The first disc and appear as a duo Rigo is known, together with Ricardo. In a record store clerk Ricardo learns the Nina, who, however, is just in love with his voice. Ricardo is unlucky in love and sadness is bigger than he realizes that Rigo has won the heart of Nina. The friendship of two men breaking it and Ricardo do not want to occur with Rigo. So it tries Rigo alone, but for the audience the song of Ricardo. Ricardo finally decides to rescue the performance of his rival and yet to sing. The friendship between the two is saved. Ricardo stays with his singing and Rigo at Nina.
Background
The film had its world premiere on May 9, 1933 Ufa - Palast am Zoo in Berlin. Joseph Schmidt fled Germany for a day after the premiere. Also director Richard Oswald left after the premiere Germany and turned as Schmidt in Austria more movies.
The film was banned on 1 October 1937 by the film Oberprüfstelle.
In 1958, directed by Géza von Bolváry the feature film A song goes round the world ( The Joseph Smith Story ) with Hans Reiser in the lead role.
