Durn ( Mycteria ) constitute a genus within the family of storks ( ciconiidae ). The 90-100 cm large birds have a wingspan of 150 cm. The mainly white plumage has black flight feathers. While the three species of the Old World have a yellow beak and a yellow or red featherless face, these parts are less colorful with the American Wood Stork. Nimmersatte flying with outstretched neck and legs stretched. The four species live in the tropics of America, Africa and Asia. These resident birds breed in low-lying wetlands on trees. When searching for insects, fish and frogs it slow and steady progress through shallow wetlands.
