Myrhorod Raion

The Rajon Myrhorod (Ukrainian Миргородський район / rayon Myrhorodskyj; Russian Миргородский район / Mirgorodski raion ) is a district in the center of the central Ukrainian Poltava oblast. Administrative center is the same place but not heard as a county-level city for Rajon. The circle Myrhorod is predominantly on the built-up from the Saale glacial loess deposits Poltava plateau in the transition to Dnjeprtiefland.

The soils are mainly chernozem soils, which are partly marshy and salty in river valleys. Of raw materials can be found in Rajon u, a, oil, gas, peat and mineral water. Major rivers include the Psel and Khorol, which have cut deep into the terrain each on the right bank.

The Rajon was created on March 7, 1923 parts of the old okrugs Lubny. In its present form consists of Rajon January 8, 1966 April 20, 2007, the villages Kyrsiwka ( Кирсівка ) and Perederijiwka ( Передеріївка ) were dissolved. An important place is Velyki Sorochyntsi in which since the 1960s, each year a large takes place (trade fair ) fair.
