Myriad Group

The Myriad Group AG ( until March 2009 Esmertecs AG ), headquartered in Dübendorf is an internationally active Swiss software manufacturer. The company specializes in software platforms, applications and services for network operators and communications equipment manufacturers and distributes a Java virtual machine for mobile phones.

The company was founded in 1999 as Esmertecs AG through a spin-off from Oberon microsystems. This in turn is a spin- off of ETH Zurich. The company is listed since 2005 on the Swiss Exchange SIX Swiss Exchange and is a founding member of the Open Handset Alliance launched by Google.

In March 2009 Esmertecs took over by an exchange of shares the French competitors Purple Labs. At the same time the company name was changed in Myriad Group AG. Esmertecs employed at the time of acquisition of around 450 people and generated 2008 sales of 40 million U.S. dollars. According to the company The merger created the largest European provider of mobile software with a turnover of 125.8 million U.S. dollars and 800 software engineers.
