Myriam Marbe

Myriam Marbe ( born April 9, 1931 in Bucharest, † December 25, 1997 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian pianist and composer.

Life

Marbe received his first piano lessons from her mother, who was a pianist. At the Bucharest Academy of Music from 1944 to 1954 she was a student of piano Florica Musicescu and Silvia Capatana and composition student of Leon Klepper and Mihail Jora. From 1953 to 1965 she was a film editor at the Casa de movies in Bucharest. From 1954 to 1988 she taught at the University of Music Bucharest counterpoint and composition. Since they refused to join the Communist Party, its was a professor denied.

Between 1968 and 1972 she was able to attend three times the Darmstadt Summer Courses 1971 at the Festival of Contemporary Music in Royan. 1989 to 1990 she was awarded a scholarship city of Mannheim.

In addition to her work as a composer Marbe acted as a journalist and musicologist. She was co-author of a monograph on George Enescu and wrote critical essays and style analysis.

The estate of Myriam Marbe is kept Institute of musicological Women 's and Gender Studies at Bremen Sophie Drinker.
