Myrmecoleon

The Mermecolion is an Asian mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a giant ant. According to legend, died this being shortly after birth because of the ants body the meat that was eating the lion, could not stand, on the other hand the lion's head did not accept the vegetarian diet of the ant.

Furthermore, according to the stories Mermecolion wrong way had grown genitals to have had.

This strange creature was probably from a faulty translation of the Hebrew word for lion to a word whose meaning is reminiscent of a " lion - ant hybrids "; in the Old Testament (Job IV: II), we read: " The old lion perisheth for lack of prey ." The Hebrew text contains the word layish for " lion". This word, a rare word for lion, has apparently caused a strange translation. The version of the Septuagint knows an Arab lion, the Aelian and Strabo Myrmex call, but in Greece means Myrmex ant, thus it became "The old lion perisheth for formic lack of victims." From this mistranslation is a fantasy creature, the excellent in classifying the medieval bestiaries grew.
