Myung-whun Chung

Chung Myung- whun ( born January 22, 1953 in Seoul) is a South Korean pianist and conductor.

Life

Chung gave his first piano concert at the age of seven years in Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Seoul. After the family had emigrated to the U.S., he began his training in New York at the Mannes School of Music (piano and conducting ). In 1970 he won the competition of the New York Times, 1974, he was awarded the second prize at the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition.

Chung and his two sisters Chung Myung- wha (cello) and Chung Kyung- wha (violin ) occurred since 1967 as a trio concerts, 1971, he made ​​his conducting debut with the Korean Symphony Orchestra. 1975 Chung was his conducting studies at the Juilliard School Juilliard 's Director of Precollege Orchestra in continuation.
