N. C. Wyeth

Newell Convers Wyeth, known as NC Wyeth ( born October 22, 1882 in Needham, Massachusetts, † October 19, 1945 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania) was an American painter and illustrator famous 20th century.

Life

Wyeth was the son of Andrew Newell Wyeth and his wife Henriette Zirngiebel. Early recognized the parents his artistic talent. After attending high school Wyeth went to the prestigious art school Brandywine School of Howard Pyle. To 1904 he was his assistant. On 16 April 1906 he married Carolyn Bockius.

In the later years Wyeth earned his living as an illustrator for posters, magazines, children's and youth books. In 1915 he started with murals that made him the latest in the 1920s and 1930s, famous. These he created for public and private buildings.

Wyeth died in a traffic accident when his car stopped on the tracks and was hit by a train. Of his five children inherited Henriette (1907-1997), Nathaniel (1911-1990) and in particular Andrew (1917-2009) his artistic talent.
