Works

Wright has published more than thirty books, some academic works under the name NT Wright, partly to the general public under the name of Tom Wright.

His academic works dealing with New Testament exegesis, especially with the new perspective on Paul and the Historical Jesus research. In the life of Jesus research, which is partially developed during a sabbatical year in Israel, he goes strictly by a historian standpoint, as refers to the Old and New Testament, Jewish and non-canonical writings, as in Greek classic, Albert Schweitzer, Ernst cheese man and EP Sanders.

Wright is an independent thinker who is both modern and classic interpretations in question. It is difficult to classify. By conservative critics, he is referred to as liberal, liberal critics as conservative.

Wright distanced himself clearly from the liberal theology, but also shocked evangelicals by postmodern approaches or theories that provide cherished concepts in question. He has no fear of contact is a personal friend of Marcus Borg, theologically represents a completely different position as a member of the Jesus Seminar, and has already published books together with him and held lecture tours. ( Borg sees Jesus as a prophet in the context of Judaism of the first century, who came into conflict with his agenda and symbolic acts with the powerful. )

Eschatology

N.t. Wright occurs with the claim by its historical, exegetical and theological research, specifically the New Testament idea of the future of the world and of the individual ( eschatology ) over current confusion in culture and church to help to her right. By examining the eschatological ideas in the pagan and Jewish environment of the New Testament, he tried to show the eschatology of early Christianity. It represents the component is close to Jewish- Pharisaic notions that at crucial points (especially the anticipation of the general resurrection resurrection of Jesus Christ ) has been changed, however. " Into the sky. Come after you died " He deconstructs popular notions of Christianity, after which it merely involved in Christianity in his 2011 published book, Simply Jesus, he coined the provocative sentence: " The Gospels do not act it, to which way, Jesus proved God. You are about how God on earth as King in heaven. " He rejects the idea of an evolutionary growth of the world for the better as well as the idea of an end of the world. Instead, go to God's action in Christianity who reconciles the world to himself and " Day of Judgment " transformed. The church had already fragmentary act out the role of this final transformative action of God. It 'll go into primary way to God's dealings with the world through the Church and it is clear then only the question of the fate of the individual after death.
