Na Noi District

Amphoe Na Noi ( Thai: อำเภอ นาน้อย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the south of the province of Nan. The Nan Province is located in the northeast of the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent are from clockwise from the North: Amphoe Wiang Sa, the country's border with Laos, Amphoe Ban Khok ( Uttaradit province ) and Amphoe Na Muen and Rong Kwang ( Phrae province ).

In the eastern part of Amphoe Na Noi Maenam Nan flows ( Nan River ). The Nam Haeng is another larger river. It flows through the village of Na Noi and opens a little further east in the Nan. Upstream of the dam Nam Haeng is created.

To the west of Amphoe Si Nan National Park, with its forested mountain slopes, which separate the valleys of the Yom and Nan from each other. Not far north of the city of Na Noi erosion has created a peculiar hills, the Hom Chom. Some hills are very steep, formed by rainwater and fractures within the sandstone masses.

History

Na Noi was originally called Wiang Sisaket ( เวียง ศรีษะเกษ ). In 1899 it became part of the province of Nan. 1903 was then scheduled to merge into a Amphoe Tha Pla and Sisaket, but Tha Pla finally came to Uttaradit.

1907 changed to the name of Amphoe, to avoid confusion with the province of Sisaket. At the same time Na Noi became part of the province of Nan.

Attractions

  • National Parks: Khun Sathan National Park ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ ขุน สถาน ) - mountainous area along a north -south mountain range that separates the provinces of Phrae and Nan. The highest elevations in the park are the Doi Ku Sathan ( ดอย กู่ สถาน ) with 1630 meters, the Doi Mae Chok ( ดอย แม่ จอก ) with 1424 meters and the Doi Phukha ( ดอย ภู คา ) with 1728 meters of altitude. Worth seeing are the stunning natural scenery, waterfalls and caves.
  • Si Nan National Park ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ ศรี น่าน ) - lies partly in the districts of Wiang sa and Na Muen. The 1024 km ² large park consists of high mountains up to 1234 meters.

Management

Amphoe Na Noi is in seven subdistricts ( tambon) divided, which in turn divide into 66 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Na Noi ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นาน้อย ) consists of parts of the tambon Na Noi,
  • Si Sa Ket ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ศีรษะ เก ษ ) consists of the whole tambon Si Sa Ket.

There are also six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
