Nabil Fahmi

Nabil Ismail Fahmi (Arabic نبيل إسماعيل فهمي; born January 5, 1951 in New York) is an Egyptian academic, diplomat and since 16 July 2013, the Foreign Minister of Egypt.

He is the son of Ismail Fahmi, the Egyptian foreign minister was in the 1970s and resigned because of the Camp David negotiations. Nabil Fahmi received his Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics and a Master of Arts degree in business administration at the American University in Cairo. He has been working since 1974 in the government from 1992 to 1997, he was the advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. From September 1997 to September 1999 he was Egyptian ambassador to Japan from 1999 to 2008 in the United States. He is rector at the American University of Cairo and a member of the Constitution Party.

Fahmi is married and has three children. He received an honorary doctorate from the Monterey Institute of International Studies at Middlebury College in May 2009.
