Nabopolassar

Nabopolassar ( Babylonian Nabû - apla - usur; † August 9th 605 BC) was the founder and first king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire.

Reign

He took in his accession year ( 626-625 BC) on 16 November ( 26 Araḫsamna ) 626 BC the throne. In 625 BC, was followed by his first year of reign. He called himself the son of a nobody.

Nabopolassar was a commander of the Assyrian king Sin - sar iškun he betrayed. He formed an alliance with the Medes against the Assyrians, who ruled Babylon for 200 years. The Alliance defeated the Assyrians and Nabopolassar was 609 BC destroy all legacies of the reign of the Assyrians.
