Nacho Libre is an American comedy film from 2006 about a Mexican Luchador. The movie was released on 16 June 2006 in the American cinema and was developed by the authors Jared Hess and Mike White ( School of Rock ) is written.
The story is partly based on the life of Fray Tormenta ( " Friar Storm" ), aka Rev. Sergio Gutierrez Benitez, who was a Catholic priest in real life, by the way, but a career as a freestyle wrestler had ( mex Luchador ). His goal was to support with the money the orphanage, which he headed.
Action
The film begins in Ignacio's youth, as a child in an orphanage in Mexico. His parents ( mother a Scandinavian and a Mexican father ) died when he was very young. Even from an early age Ignacio was thrilled by the Mexican Wrestling Lucha Libre fighters of ( Free Battle ). He made himself capes and Catchermasken (which are very popular in Mexico). As punishment for his Umtriebigkeiten it is set as a friar in the kitchen.
The action switches to the present. Ignacio is still enthusiastic about the Luchadores. His cooking skills keep contrast in check - but this is mainly due to the lack of resources of the monastery. So there day in and day out with bean nachos, which makes him a restaurant for free.
One day the chips him stolen by a half-naked dirty man even more. Ignacio about how he can get better food for his orphans. On the road he sees the luchador Ramses, which seems to swim in money and is adored by all on the road. The next day, Steve finds him in the desert ( in reality, Nacho had only 500 meters away from the village stopped ). He brings him the news that Sileco had an accident and can not compete against Ramses. Since Nacho was the Second, he must now compete against Ramses. In a flashback we see that Steve has driven with the motor trike on Silencios foot as he watched him as he fought with a thin boy to a loaf of bread.
Ignacio is skeptical about whether he should really do that now. Steve convinces him: he reveals to him that he had always hated the orphans, but now he does not anymore and Nacho is the only hope for these children, they need a hero. Ignacio accepts and adds to his fate.
Nacho sends the evening before the battle a message to Sister Encarnacion: He tells her of his plan as a luchador, and confesses his love one.
It comes to a fight, Nacho is already defeated almost of Ramses - at least the mask has been torn from his head, which is the greatest disgrace that can suffer a Luchador. As it is almost over, sees Nacho, like Sister Encarnacion appears with the orphans in the arena. All children have to imitate masks on at Nacho as their model. This gives Nacho again indescribable forces and he manages to overpower Ramses. He throws Ramses out of the ring and then like an eagle pounces on him and beat him. Nacho is the new champion.
Nacho keeps his promise to buy a bus for the orphans with whom they can take trips from now on. The film ends with a tour of the children to the ruins of Monte Alban.
Criticism
" Woods staged parody of a Mexican brand of Catchens that thrives on occasional punch lines and curious turns, except her gifted protagonist is unfolding little shine and is more calculated to confirm prejudices. "
