Nagpur (Division)

Nagpur ( Marathi: नागपूर विभाग ) is a division in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is part of Vidarbha region.

History

The division established in 1861 at the Association of Nagpur province to which the area in front belonged, with the Saugor and Nerbudda Territories to the Central Provinces. After the founding of the State of India, the area first came to Madhya Pradesh; a boundary correction was made according to linguistic point of view on 1 November 1956. The Nagpur division came down to the district Balaghat, which came to Madhya Pradesh, the State of Bombay. On the language border Gujarati Marathi 1960, the border between Gujarat and Maharashtra was pulled, the Division came to Maharashtra.
