The Nahle is a 2.7 km long tributary of the White Elster in Leipzig, Saxony, and empties into the new billet. It is part of the Elster- billet system in northern Leipzig floodplain forest.

Course

Today's course

The Nahle is a river of the first order. It begins as an outflow of Elster basin ( 10 ) at its north-western end and first leads straight to the northwest. After just a few meters of the branches leading to the west of Burgau Bach from (9 ), it then crosses the Nahle the Nahlewehr (8) and take the left side of the little puddle ( 7), in their original bed it flows from there. In its further course it passes under the railway line Leipzig - Großkorbetha (6 ), the Leipzig goods ring (5 ), and the Gustav- Esche - road (4). About 300 meters west of the Auensees opens (2) the Nahle in the New billet ( 1), which at this point has a level of 99.6 m above sea level. NN.

Shortly before that branches off to the left from a more than 3 km long high tide bed, which runs parallel to the south of the new billet and eventually loses in the landscape. About the 1954 -built after the flood of July 1954 Nahle - outlet structure ( 3) can be flooded, including the Burgaue during floods in riparian forest south of the new billet. The outlet structure was first opened partially and completely on 14 January 2011 on January 9, 2011. In June 2013, the outlet was opened a second time during the flood.

Original course

Originally Nahle began further east, where they branched off from the White Elster in the Lower wood against the Rosental. Name

The name Nahle means " laughing water ".
