Naïma Azough

Naima Azough ( born April 1, 1972 in Asdif, Morocco ) is a Dutch politician of Moroccan descent; of March 16, 2004 to 17 June 2010, she was a member of the Second Chamber in the faction of the party Groen Links.

Curriculum vitae

Azough is originally from Morocco and came through family reunification at the age of three years in the Netherlands. The daughter of a metal worker grew up in Rotterdam -Zuid. She studied English and German at the University of Antwerp; during their period of study in Antwerp Azough was active in committee against the Belgian Vlaams Blok right-wing party ( Flemish Block). Then she studied International Relations at the University of Amsterdam, but they went through the study is not complete.

She worked as a freelance programmer, including the political and cultural center De Balie and the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. She also worked as an editor for the consignment meeting point of the former Muslim radio station Nederlandse Moslim Omroep, as an editor for the radio program De Wereld Other at IKON ( Interkerkelijke Omroep Nederland) and as a member of Groen Links magazine. In 1999, the aspiring politician published two books: "Het patatpantheon: en een nieuwe van groepscultuur generatie " ( as an editor ) and " Marokkanen, landgenoten: drie generaties Marokkanen in Nederland ". Then she worked as an assistant for the project " Rotterdam - European Capital of Culture 2001 ".

Azough is Muslim and also sees itself as a liberal and a feminist. She was Director of the Development Fund for Women Mama Cash and the Prince Bernhard Cultural Fund ( Prince Bernhard Cultural Fund ).
