The Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame is the most famous Hall of Fame basketball. In her exceptional players, coaches, referees and supporters of the sport are included. The Hall of Fame is located in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was inaugurated in 1959 and named after the Canadian physician and teacher James Naismith, who is considered the inventor of basketball.

Board of Directors

The management of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame responsibility of a Board of currently 22 members. Chairman of the Board is Jerry Colangelo, former owner of the Phoenix Suns and other professional teams in U.S. sports leagues.

Task of the Board is to create public awareness of the sport basketball and its history. On the administrative level, the Board of Directors monitors the operations of the Hall of Fame as well as the selection process for future members. The selection process itself but is controlled by a series of Nomination Committee.

Nomination Committee

A total of six different nomination committee shall be convened by the Executive Board of the Hall of Fame to every year to make a selection of candidates, which are then presented to the so-called Committee of Honour Hall of Fame for a final decision. The members of all these committees are not announced by the Hall of Fame. All these bodies have traditionally done anonymously.
